HAVE FUN REFASHIONING YOUR DENIM JACKET

Bored of wearing track pants and basic garments? Is your confinement look starting to play on your spirit? On my part, I need a good dose of fashion FUN. Here’s the good news, my studio is exploding of refashion projects waiting.

First, there is this Zara jeans coat that I bought at Renaissance a few years ago. I wore it a bit at first. It’s not that bad, you might tell me. Yes, but it has this weird detail on the back. The back is longer than the front, and has a bit of volume, as if the coat should have covered my but. But it doesn’t cover it up and leaves me in a not-so-flattering shape. Anyway, it’s today that the coat goes under the knife, I want to have fun with it!

On the other hand, a few years ago, I scoured an old-fashioned wedding dress. I had transformed it into a rather satisfying skirt. The corset was stained, torn, I had to throw it away. It’s so unfortunate I have no picture of the dress in it’s original condition… it was atrocious, poor her. I always kept the sleeves because they inspire me!

Ready? This is the day I’m going to have fun with them!

REFASHION TUTORIAL VIDEO

Only in french:)

STEP 1 – REMOVE COLLAR

The first thing to do to have fun with your jeans coat is to remove the collar. Done quickly this is an easy no sew DIY, just needs a good seam ripper.

STEP 2- REMOVE WAISTBAND

The second fun thing to do to jazz up your jeans coat is to remove the waistband.

STEP 3- CROP THE JACKET

Personally, I like wearing high waisted jeans, and I think a short jacket with a high waist looks great. Shortening your jeans coat and leaving the hemline frayed is something fun to do, too.

If you’ve had enough fun like this, you can stop right there. As far as I’m concerned, I craving a bit more fun than this! I also have my two wedding sleeves in mind and I really want to integrate them into the jacket! Let’s get started!

STEP 4 – REDESIGN THE SLEEVES

ÉTAPE 4 – STITCH BACK ON THE SLEEVES

I like nice finishes so I decided to make a fin a binding with twill tape over the seam allowance.

FINITO!

LAST STEP – WEAR WITH PRIDE 🙂

I find the result phenomenal! What do you say?
